Trump’s Lebanon peace: Hezbollah terrorists oppose deal between Jerusalem and Beirut
Published on April 17, 2026.
The 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is a misnomer, as Hezbollah terrorists oppose it. Hezbollah, who for years operated a state-with-a-state in southern Lebanon, armed and financed from Tehran, has been doing the bidding of the mullahs, not the Lebanese people or government. For decades, Hezbollah has attacked Israel with rockets, missiles and drones, leading to Israel retaliating. While many of President Trump's statements are problematic or exaggerations, he has been outstanding in negotiating Israel-Arab peace deals, including the Abraham Accords in his first term and peace agreements with several other countries. The current ceasefire comes after Hezbollah started firing at Israel again during the joint U.S.-Israel attacks on Iran's nuclear and military sites.
