The largest flood in 20 years in Hawai'i, according to Governor Josh Green, has caused $1 billion in estimated damages to public and private infrastructure, including schools, roads, and homes. The state remains under flood watch until Sunday evening due to continued flooding and heavy rain forecast. Despite no injuries or deaths reported, Green warned residents to stay vigilant about flood risks and heavy rainfall throughout the weekend. The Wahiawā Dam, which the city had warned of an imminent failure at its peak, was expected to flood for years, but the dam's owner, Dole Food Co., has argued it doesn't have enough money to fix it. As of Friday evening, more than 6400 Oʻahu residents had lost power due to the storm. Maui County officials have approved $12 million in flood damages from last week's storm, with officials issuing evacuation notices for parts of Lahao, East Maui, and East Molokai.
