National Theatre Director Indhu Rubasingham Eyes Bollywood Talent, India Expansion — and Brings Ayesha Dharker Full Circle in ‘The Jungle Book’

Indhu Rubasingham, the director and co-chief executive of the National Theatre in London, has expressed her ambition to expand the institution's ties with India through artistically, educationally, and digitally. She also plans to bring Bollywood talent to the institution and is exploring the possibility of working with Bollywood actors in the future. Her role comes after she was awarded a Member of the British Empire for her services to theater. Her first role was as artistic director of the Kiln Theatre in north London, where she championed unheard voices and oversaw a major capital redevelopment. Her vision is to bring India's large Indian subcontinent diaspora to the stage and create a dialogue with so many different parts of the world.
