Oracle, a major Bay Area tech company, has reportedly cut up to 30,000 jobs in a massive layoff, notifying its employees at 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The company, chaired by billionaire Larry Ellison, informed its employees across multiple regions that their last day would be their last at the company. The layoffs are expected to affect around 18% of its global workforce, with around 20,000-30,000 positions expected to be affected as of May 2025. The termination emails were shared on Reddit's employeesOfOracle group, with users expressing frustration and confusion over the company's handling of the layoff. This follows a report in March that the company was considering slashing thousands of jobs as part of a massive AI data center expansion effort.
