The U.S. and Iran are negotiating over a three-page plan to end the war, which includes releasing $20 billion in frozen Iranian funds in exchange for Iran giving up its stockpile of enriched uranium. The parties are also discussing what will happen to the stockpile, and how much of Iran's assets will be unfrozen. A top priority for the US is preventing Iran from accessing the stockpile of nearly 2,000kg of uranium buried in its underground nuclear facilities. The deal is expected to be finalised this weekend, with Pakistan mediating and Egypt and Turkey supporting the process. The three-part memorandum of understanding (MOU) also includes a moratorium on nuclear enrichment by Iran and a resolution to the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.
