Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, a national lakeshore located along the Lake Michigan shoreline, was named one of the world's best beaches in a recent Tripadvisor ranking. The ranking placed Sleeping Bear Dune at No. 4 in the One of a Kind Beaches category in the Travelers' Choice Awards Best of the Best 2026. This recognition made the only U.S. winner among the 19 best One of the Kind beaches globally. The National Park Service provides 35 miles of beach on Lake Michigan with seven swim areas, sand dunes up to 450 feet tall, trails, historic villages and museums, and a lighthouse. Entrance passes to the lakeshores include a $25 standard pass, $45 annual pass and America the Beautiful pass.
