Omaha doctor says hantavirus risk far lower than COVID-19

Omired Dr. Kelly Cawcutt with Nebraska Medicine has stated that the risk of hantavirus spreading faster than the disease itself, compared to the rapid spread of the disease on a cruise ship. The World Health Organization has reported that the outbreak may be linked to a Dutch couple who took part in a bird-watching excursion and was later exposed to the virus. While it is possible for cases to reach Nebraska, it remains unlikely. The symptoms to watch for include fever, body aches, headaches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
