A high-speed chase in Georgia ended in a fatal shootout after deputies and members of the Bartow Cartersville Drug Task Force attempted to pull over a vehicle as part of an ongoing drug investigation. The driver, 45-year-old Justin Eric Hardin, fled and was killed at the scene. The police initiated a pursuit after he refused to stop and used a PIT maneuver, a tactic used to force a fleeing vehicle to spin out and stop. This maneuver led to gunfire and a shootout under a busy interstate overpass. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now investigating the case. The discovery of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle highlights the importance of high-stakes encounters involving vehicles. This case is part of a larger pattern where vehicles become the center of serious law enforcement operations.
