China’s open approach is reshaping the AI race

Jonathan Greenberger has been named as the next Global Editor-in-Chief of POLITICO, succeeding John Harris who will assume the role as Chairman. Greenberger, who has previously served as Executive Vice President of the news organization, will succeed Harris as the CEO of the company. The move comes after a report by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission warned that China's open-source approach to AI could help the country gain industrial edge. The report, "Two Loops: How China’s Open AI Strategy Reinforces Its Industrial Dominance," finds that Chinese AI labs’ willingness to publish model source code and weights is accelerating innovation and adoption in ways the US isn't prepared to counter.
