Patriots to release Stefon Diggs, New England saves more than $16 million against cap by parting ways with WR

The New England Patriots have announced they will release WR Stefon Diggs when the new league year begins on March 11. This decision is partially due to the financial implications. Diggs was one year into a three-year, $63.5 million contract he signed last year. He led the Patriots with 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in his debut season. The Patriots will now search for a replacement during free agency and the upcoming NFL Draft.
