Lobo standout Buljan picks Maryland as portal moves surge

Former UNM Lobo forward Tomislav Buljan, a 23-year-old Croatian forward, announced he will be transferring to the Big Ten's Maryland after one season at UNM. Buljan was the only player in the Mountain West this year to average a double-double and was one of the highest-rated offensive rebounders in Division I. The NCAA initially granted him just one season of playing eligibility, but approved an appeal after he earned too much money in two years playing for his professional team. Former UNM guard Tru Washington will play at Xavier University in the Big East for his senior season, while Kalek House will be teammates with Buljan. There have also been significant movement in the transfer portal for the mountain West, both for teams that are leaving the conference and moving on to the new Pac 12.
