Madera Economic Summit highlights growth potential, regulatory hurdles facing the county

The Madera Economic Development Commission has hosted a 2026 Economic Summit at San Joaquin Wine Co. to discuss the future of Madera County, California. The panelists discussed rapid growth, regulatory hurdles, and long-term economic risks. Much of the discussion focused on the success of projects like Riverstone and Tesoro Viejo, with developers Timothy Jones and Joshua Peterson suggesting that timing has played a role in this growth. They also highlighted the importance of long-planned conversion of “bedroom communities” into job centers. Despite some risks, the panelists expressed optimism in the county’s future.
