California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has responded by criticising podcaster Joe Rogan, calling him a "fucking con man" and "a cardboard cutout of a person". Newsom responded by arguing that Rogan is too chicken to have him on his show, comparing him to President Donald Trump. Rogan has been a vocal critic of Newsom for years and has previously left California for Texas amid "draconian" vaccine mandates. The governor is rumoured to be planning a run for president in 2028.
