Salem State Student Killer Sentenced To Life In Prison For 1986 Murder

John Carey, the man convicted of the 1986 strangulation death of 20-year-old Salem State University student, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. The conviction came nearly 40 years after the student was murdered. Recent DNA testing revealed that Carey's DNA was found on the murder weapon and he will begin serving his sentence at the Souza-Baronowski Correctional Center in Gloucester.
