Long airport lines are the tip of the iceberg of DHS shutdown, officials tell Congress

The partial government shutdown is causing long lines at airport security and flight cancellations, according to top Homeland Security officials. The protracted delay in training for new TSA workers and increased demand for cybersecurity intelligence is also a concern. This is the third shutdown in less than a year. The workers are also missing rent payments, unable to support their families, and are accumulating expenses that won't be reimbursed. The shutdown, affecting DHS but not ICE and Customs and Border Protection, is reaching its 40th day.
