OC Mom Faces Manslaughter Charge After Veteran Dies From Teen E-Motorcycle Crash

Tommi Jo Mejer, a 51-year-old Orange County woman, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after her teenage son, 14, caused a fatal motorcycle accident involving an e-motorcycle. The accident occurred on April 16 and resulted in the death of veteran Ed Ashman. Mejer was initially charged with child abuse and endangerment and being an accessory after the fact with knowledge of a crime, both felonies, and misdemeanor counts of allowing an unlicensed driver to drive a motor vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and providing false information to a police officer. If convicted, Mejer faces a maximum sentence of seven years and eight months in state prison.
