Samsung Messages Is Going Away in July: Save Your Texts Before It Disappears

Samsung has announced that it will discontinue its messaging app, Samsung Messages, in July, ending support for SMS, MMS and RCS across the US. The company has provided instructions on how to switch to Google's Messages app, which has been the default on new Galaxy devices since 2024. Once the app is deactivated, only messaging to emergency services will work on Samsung Messages. An older Galaxy Watch that runs on Samsung's Tizen operating system will no longer have access to its full conversation history as these devices cannot use Google Messages.
