Tamar Bridge consultation gets 5,800 responses

The Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee has proposed increasing fees for the Tamar Tag, a prepaid electronic tag system, from 80p to £2 in an attempt to cover rising costs. The proposal was put on hold in January after public criticism. A four-week consultation with the committee ended on 6 April and received 5,842 survey responses. The cost of running the tag scheme is currently more than the income generated by the 52,000 account holders.
