Rescuers are set to attempt to free a humpback whale that has been stranded off Germany's Baltic Sea coast for weeks. The animal, named "Timmy" by German media, has been stuck in a shallow bay off the island of Poel for four weeks. A private initiative backed by millionaires has organised a fresh effort to free the whale, despite concerns that it could cause more pain. The plan involves guiding the animal, which weighs around 12 tons, through a dredged channel to a transport barge.
