Indonesia advances One Health and pandemic preparedness through CARE-I
Published on April 20, 2026.
The Indonesian government has initiated priority activities under a grant from the Pandemic Fund, a global funding mechanism established in 2022 to strengthen pandemic prevention, preparedness and response in low- and middle-income countries. The CARE-I programme aims to advance the One Health approach by strengthening collaboration across human, animal, and environmental health sectors at both national and subnational levels. The programme will be implemented for three years from 2026 to 2028. The World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and World Bank will assist in improving surveillance systems, training frontline health workers to detect and respond to outbreaks, and enhancing coordination across sectors to prevent diseases that spread from animals to humans.
