Las Vegas man sentenced to over 7 years in prison for drug trafficking in Utah

Christopher Gerard Ruiz, a 42-year-old Las Vegas man, has been sentenced to 92 months in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute. During a traffic stop in 2023, police found around 30,000 fentanyl pills in a lunch cooler in the rear cargo area of the vehicle. The driver, Rachel Marie Aponas, also admitted to possessing methamphetamine. The three children were removed by the Department of Children and Families Services.
