The New York Yankees have made history with consecutive season-opening shutouts for the first time in franchise history. Cam Schlittler, the team's pitching staff, managed to limit the Giants to five hits or fewer through the first two games of the season. The team's victory over San Francisco made them the first team in baseball history to be held scoreless. The most notable performance was from Camilo Doval, who struck out the side with some sinkers in the eighth inning. Despite a back/lat issue, Schlittlers was praised for his performance. The Yankees also had successful 6.1 blank innings on Opening Day and 7-0 over the Giants.
