No. 5 Houston defeated BYU 73-66 in the Big 12 tournament quarterfinals in Kansas City. Kingston Flemings led four players in double figures, including Emmanuel Sharp, Joseph Tugler, and Chris Cenac Jr. for Houston. Freshman sensation AJ Dybantsa scored a game-high 26 points, marking his 13th consecutive game with 20-plus points. BYU's Robert Wright III also contributed with 15 points and five assists. Houston advanced to the semifinals for the third time in as many years. Despite a poor performance from BYU, Houston managed to maintain a 44.8% rebounding edge and a 19-10 advantage in second-chance points.
