Idaho Gov. Brad Little has signed into law a measure requiring teachers and doctors to identify transgender minors to their parents or guardians, even when the young people are at risk of harm. The "Pediatric Secretive Transitions Parental Rights Act" will take effect in July and requires notification of parents and health care professionals if minors seek support related to gender identity. The law also allows parents to sue individuals or institutions that violate the law for up to $100,000 per incident. Critics argue that the legislation could expose children in intolerant homes to abuse. This is part of a larger wave of legislation aimed at transgender people in the state.
