OpenAI's advertising pilot, launched in the U.S. in January, has generated $100 million in annual recurring revenue within two months, according to a spokesperson. The company plans to test ads with its free users and ChatGPT Go subscribers in the US, potentially opening up a lucrative new revenue stream. Despite criticism from rival Anthropic, OpenAI is working with over 600 advertisers and is exploring additional testing in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The ads will appear at the bottom of the chatbot's answers and will not influence its responses.
