India's benchmark indexes are on track for their weakest financial-year performance in six years due to a combination of geopolitical shocks, U.S. tariffs, and record foreign investor outflows. The Nifty and Sensex underperformed other Asian and emerging market peers in fiscal 2026 and are trading at a nearly one-year low levels. The benchmark 10-year bond yield hit 6.97% on Monday, the highest since July 2024. Experts believe that a prolonged Iran war could be a major concern due to India's dependence on crude.
