US Prime Minister Keir Starmer has criticised American rapper Ye, known as Kanye West, for his scheduled performance at the Wireless Festival in London between July 10-12. Pepsi has withdrawn its lead sponsorship role of the event and other sponsors, including Budweiser and PayPal, are urging them to follow suit. Ye, who has previously been criticized for his antisemitic remarks and admiration for Adolf Hitler, was booked to perform in front of around 150,000 revellers over three nights. This comes amid signs of growing antisemitism in the UK, with two men and a 17-year-old boy ordered to remain in custody on charges of burning four ambulances.
