A group of U.S. senators is pushing to make rotisserie chicken eligible for food stamps. The Hot Rotisserie Chicken Act would make the supermarket staple an eligible purchase under the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, formerly known as food stamps, a program that provides a monthly stipend for low-income families but does not cover hot prepared foods. Critics argue that this exclusion is outdated and penalizes families already struggling financially. The bill is sponsored by Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, Republican Sen. Jim Justice of West Virginia, and Democrat Michael Bennet of Colorado.
