The release of this year's Record Store Day (RSD 2026) has led to a record-breaking day for some of the music industry's legacy indie stores across the US, with some reporting their best day ever due to the release of Swift & Grateful Dead songs. Retail Track, the organization behind the RSD event, implemented its annual store crawl on Saturday (April 18), visiting 10 stores throughout New York City that day to observe the performance of RSD. The Crawl included a road trip to Rough Trade in Rockefeller Center for its annual Indie Plaza event. The author began with a visit to Pancakes Records on Steinway Street in Astoria, Queens at 7:30 a.m. with 60 people already in line before the store’s scheduled 8 a., opening, while 5th Avenue Records in Park Slope claimed it was open at 10 a. m. on the internet, but the store had been closed for some time. Despite this, Retail Track found the best day of the day for the first time and kept an eye out for the second time. The article also covered a review of the worst Diet Diet Coke ever, which was turned out to be the best Diet Coke of the year.
