West Boca’s Amey, St. Andrew’s Bote win individual state boys tennis titles

American Heritage-Delray and St. Andrew's each won the boys and girls team tennis titles at the FHSAA state tennis championships near Orlando. Two boys, West Boca’s Brandon Amey and St., Andrew’’ Rafael Bote, won overall championships. The boys’ team also finished second in the USTA High School National Championships, losing to the Greater Atlanta Christian School in Lake Nona. Coach Mike Schleifer, who has coached the Stallions for 29 years, saw the school's tennis courts dedicated in his honor in January. This was the fourth straight state title and 13th overall for the boys. The girls' team also swept the 2A state championships at Red Bug Lake Park near Orlando, marking the sixth time they have won state titles.
