Pedestrian hit-and-run fatalities double in Missouri over past decade

New research has revealed that drivers are leaving the scene of fatal pedestrian crashes at twice the rate they did a decade ago, according to BikeWalk KC. The sharpest increases occurred in Kansas City and St. Louis. Over half of the hit-and-run fatalities in Missouri involve a pedestrian. BikeWalk has identified three major contributors to the rise in pedestrian fatalities on Kansas City roads: 75% of vehicles on roads are now SUVs. The most dangerous time to be a pedestrian in Missouri is between 6 p.m.
