Black Bear and Artists Equity are partnering to finance a new feature film project from Julia Cox, titled "A Woman in the Sun," which will star Academy Award winners Renée Zellweger and Sissy Spacek opposite Mia Threapleton. The film, written and directed by Cox, follows a month in the life of a bartender on Nantucket, Nantsucket. Production is set to begin in September and will be introduced to international buyers at the Cannes Film Festival. Black Bear is co-financing the project, with Black Bear set to distribute it in North America and the UK via Elevation Pictures. ZellWeger and Carmella Casinelli are producing through Big Picture Co. with Kim Roth and Greg Gertmenian set as co-producers.
