Wall Street again hopes for the best

Investors are hoping for an end to the Iran war, which has lasted longer than expected and is in its third week. President Donald Trump has stated that he is not planning on sending ground troops into the Middle East, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's comments suggest that Iran no longer has the capacity to enrich uranium or make ballistic missiles. This is seen as a sign of de-escalation that may lead to more attacks in the future. However, there are reports that the White House is considering a significant escalation to the war, possibly including boots on the ground. The S&P 500 closed down just 0.27% on Thursday, more than 5% off its all-time high. The price of Brent crude oil is up almost 50% from where it was before the war.
