PlayStation prices surge worldwide amid tariffs and supply strain, second hike in a year
Published on March 28, 2026.
The price of a PlayStation has risen by another $100, the second time in less than a year that Sony has increased its price. This increase is due to ongoing global economic pressures, including tariffs imposed on all of the nation's trading partners and the Iran war. The PS5 will now cost $649.99 in the U.S. and the PS5 Pro will cost $899.99, a $150 increase. The price for the digital edition was also raised by $100. The company did not specifically cite this increase as a cause. The Iran-led war has disrupted global trade and has threatened supplies of helium, a key ingredient used to produce computer chips.
