Elmhurst Starts Debt For New Police Station

The City Council unanimously voted for a $11 million bond issue for the construction of a new police station, with $3.5 million of the proceeds going towards the engineering of the building. The city is refinancing debt from more than a decade ago, saving nearly $500,000 over the life of the bonds. The auction attracted 28 bids from nine vendors, with the lowest bidder at 2.4 percent. The cost of the project is expected to be $48 million.
