The planned fourth and fifth movies in James Cameron's Avatar franchise are preproduction, according to Rae Sanchini, an executive producer who worked on the third movie. The third movie, "Fire and Ash," crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office in January. Sanchini stated that the fourth andfifth movies, which do not yet have titles, are scheduled to hit theaters in 2029 and 2031. She also revealed that Cameron's production company, Lightstorm Entertainment, is using a more generally accessible platform to build the franchise's state-of-the-art visual spectacle for the sequels.
