Ethan MacDermot, a native of Australia, came to America for his senior year to play high school basketball in America. He chose Benet, the defending Class 4A state champions, as he found American basketball to his liking. Despite a loss to Marist in the East Suburban Catholic Conference, Benet coach Gene Heidkamp expressed pride in his player and his ability to handle adversity well. Despite the loss, he expressed his desire to play in college and said he will cherish his experience forever.
