Weekly tick bite-related ER visits are at the highest level in a decade across the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The increase in tick bites is attributed to a 10-15% increase in patients coming in with tick bite related illnesses. The Northeast region, including Maryland, is reporting the most ER visits for tick bites, with the NORTHEAST REGION reporting the highest number. The CDC suggests that the weather may be partly to blame for this increase, particularly for early tick bites that look like they may have been early Lyme disease cases. The most recent week's data indicates that weekly ER VISITS are at their highest level since 2017, more than double the normal number of tick bite ER visits. There are some tips to prevent tick bite incidents, including wearing a protective clothing and avoiding outdoor activities.
