Ed Fries, the original Xbox team leader and Microsoft's gaming division vice president, has dismissed the idea that gaming is on the decline due to generative AI, stating that PC games were the largest growing part of the game business last year. Fries also mentioned the growing importance of global game markets, noting that when launched Xbox, India and China looked similar, some of the biggest game publishers in the world are Chinese. Despite this, Fries remains optimistic about the future of the video game industry, stating it has grown by an average of 5% year-over-year.
