Unseasonably warm temperatures across Southern Colorado have led to a surge in motorcycle sales this spring, leading to concerns that this could lead to an increase in motorcycle-involved crashes. Some dealerships have sold three times more bikes this season, coinciding with 15 traffic-related deaths in Colorado Springs in 2026. The Colorado Springs Police Department is urging new and experienced riders to get proper training and have the required motorcycle endorsement to operate legally in the state. While a training course is not mandatory in Colorado, it is a way to obtain an endorsement. To ride legally in Colorado you can either complete a Motorcycle Operator Safety Training Course or pass an exam at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
