A 16-year-old student from Pennsylvania high school was bullied by fake nude images at school, causing her family to discover a pornographic image of her circulating at their high school. The student, who had never sent a nude image, was identified at a party and had a falling out with a friend after a rumor spread about her nude image circulated. Her parents claim that the school in the New Hope-Solebury School District failed to adequately investigate the deepfake scandal and provided support in the aftermath. The scandal has left the girl, now 18, who has withdrawn from the public school after years of bullying. The parents are working with Matthew Faranda-Diedrich, a partner at the Royer Cooper Cohen Braunfeld law firm, to take legal action against the school district. They are urging other parents to educate other parents about the dangers of deepfake abuse and how schools are dealing with this issue. A survey by the Center for Democracy & Technology revealed that 6 in 10 teachers were not aware of school policies and procedures to address sexual images, and only 16% of students depicted in a deepfake application were aware of this case.
