The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is monitoring state campgrounds due to flooding in northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. As of April 30, no campground openings have been delayed due to the flooding. However, some campsites at parks experiencing flooding have been closed, including those at Mitchell State Park in Cadillac and Harrisville State Park. The DNR does not expect any of its campgrounds to entirely close due to this, as many open in early May before the traditional camping season begins. The biggest impact has been on boating access sites around Black, Burt and Mullett lakes. If conditions don't improve, the DNR plans to notify campers with affected reservations.
