Clay Department of Health officials warn of blue-green algae at Doctors Lake
Published on April 18, 2026.
The Florida Department of Health (DOH-Clay) has issued a warning about blue-green algae detected at the center of Doctors Lake. Water sample testing is underway to determine if the algae has the potential to produce toxins. The public is advised to avoid drinking, swimming, or interacting with water where an algae bloom is visible. Officials also advised that pets and livestock should be kept away from the area and an alternative water source. The toxin test results will be posted on the Protecting Florida Together website and the DEP's Algal Bloom Dashboard once available.
