President Donald Trump has sent federal agents to airports in an effort to "do security like no one has ever seen before" due to the current partial government shutdown. The agents were spotted wearing masks despite a request from President Donald Trump for them to not wear them. This follows a ground delay at O'Hare due to staffing shortages. The president had previously threatened to send ICE agents to airport if lawmakers failed to reach an agreement to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
