A federal judge in Texas has dismissed a defamation suit brought by FBI Director Kash Patel against former FBI assistant director-turned-MSNBC contributor Frank Figliuzzi. The lawsuit was over comments Figlizzi made on "Morning Joe" about Patel's evening activities. Figliuzi's lawyers argued that the comment was a sarcastic, hyperbolic remark that protected him from defamation. The judge agreed, stating that since the statement was considered "rhetorical hyperbole," it cannot be considered defamation. This ruling comes two days after Patel filed a separate defamation suit against The Atlantic magazine for a story alleging that he drinks to excess and has had unexplained absences at the bureau.
