Man accused of firing gun in Newport condo arrested after overnight standoff, police say

Johnson Rin, 44-year-old Portland man, is facing charges of menacing, reckless endangerment, and gun charges for allegedly firing a handgun at a Newport condo early Saturday morning. The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on March 21 and involved reports of an intoxicated man firing a gun inside his room at a condo. The family, including a young child, was able to flee the condo and call for help after Rin allegedly threatened other family members and threatened them with a gun. After a lengthy standoff with police, the Lincoln County Interagency Tactical Response Team used a heavily armed vehicle to shield officers and citizens during Rin's arrest.
