Iran has intensified its attacks on its Gulf Arab neighbors' energy infrastructure following an Israeli attack on its main natural gas field. A ship was set alight off the coast of the United Arab Emirates and another damaged off Qatar. The attacks were seen as a major escalation in the Mideast war that has caused global fuel prices to soar. Qatar, a key source of natural gas for global markets, said its major LNG facility was hit by Iranian missile attacks, causing "sizeable fires and extensive damage". The country had to shut down operations at its Habshan gas facility and Bab field, and authorities in Abu Dhabi said it had been forced to halt operations there. Iran condemned Israel's attack on South Pars, the world's largest gas field, which is owned jointly by Iran and Qatar. Saudi Arabia and the UnitedArab Emirates all denounced the Iranian attacks. In Washington, President Donald Trump said Israel would not attack South Pars again but threatened to retaliate and "massively blow up the entirety of the field".
