Supporters of jailed former Istanbul mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu gathered outside the city hall to mark one year since the start of nationwide protests. The opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) called for a rally, accusing the government of launching a "coup" targeting both him and the CHP. The main trial against the former mayor has begun and he faces more than 2,000 years in prison. The crackdown on opposition politicians has led to the largest protests in Turkey in over a decade.
