Starbucks is cutting jobs in its technology organization under the guidance of its new CTO, Anand Varadarajan, who joined the company from Amazon four months ago. The job cuts are part of a broader transformation under CEO Brian Nicco, which includes a series of initiatives including an AI-powered drink-ordering assistant and an algorithm that manages mobile order timing. The number of people affected is unclear. The cuts appear to be unrelated to the company's Nashville expansion.
