Aaron Judge, the three-time AL MVP winner, used the automated ball-strike system (ABS) for the first time in a game against the Giants, resulting in a key hit that helped the Yankees secure a 3-0 win over the Giants. Judge challenged the call from lefty Robbie Ray, which was called a strike by home plate umpire Chad Fairchild, but it proved to be a fraction of an inch low. He eventually worked the count full before launching a 405-foot homer to left. Despite the challenge, Judge acknowledged that winning the challenge was not guaranteed success.
